Privacy
We run a diner. This website has no sign-up, no account, no shopping cart and no contact form — there is nothing on it for you to fill in, so we collect nothing about you ourselves.
What the site does do is count its visitors with Google Analytics, let Cloudflare measure how fast the pages load, and — on one page — show you a Google map. All three are listed below, by name. Nothing else is going on.
What this site never does
- No forms. The one text field on the whole site is the search box on the menu page, and what you type there never leaves your browser. It hides and shows rows of a menu that is already on the page. It is not sent anywhere, to us or to anyone else, and it is not recorded.
- No accounts, no logins, no mailing list.
- No payments. We never handle a card number on this site. Online ordering happens on Toast — see below.
- No advertising or remarketing tags, and we don’t sell, rent or trade anything about you.
Google Analytics
Every page here — this one included — loads Google Analytics 4, measurement ID G-0QNEP3DKV7. It tells us how many people came, which pages they read, roughly where in the world they were (worked out from your IP address, town-level at best), what sort of device and browser they used, and which search or link sent them. It does not tell us who you are. We also count taps on the phone-number links, so we know how many people the site actually puts on the phone; that count carries no identity with it.
It stores two cookies in your browser:

The pageview itself is sent to Google. Google explains what it does with it in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services, and more broadly in the Google Privacy Policy.
Cloudflare’s speed measurements
The company that serves this website is Cloudflare. As it hands a page to your browser it adds one line of its own, so every page here — this one included — loads Cloudflare’s speed script from https://static.cloudflareinsights.com/beacon.min.js. The address ends in a version number that changes whenever Cloudflare updates it. That line is not in the files we upload; Cloudflare adds it as the page goes out.
Once the page has loaded, the script posts a short speed report to /cdn-cgi/rum — an address on this site’s own domain, answered by Cloudflare, not a separate tracking site. The report is about the page, not about you: how long it took to load, how quickly it answered the first tap, whether it shifted about while it was drawing, and alongside that your country, the sort of device (phone, tablet, desktop), which browser and operating system, and the link that sent you. It sets no cookies, keeps nothing in your browser, and does not tell Cloudflare or us who you are. Cloudflare says it does not use it to follow you from one website to another, and sets out the rest in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. A content blocker stops it, and nothing on the page needs it.
The lettering and the pictures
The typefaces, the logo, the photos and the menu pages are all served from this website itself. Nothing is requested from a font or image service, so no third party sees your IP address because of them, and no cookies are set.
The map on the Location page
Location & Hours has a Google Map embedded in it. Opening that page loads the map from Google, which means Google sees your IP address and that the map was shown. What Google does with that is described in the Google Privacy Policy. No other page loads it.
Ordering, directions and the links out
The Order Online buttons hand you over to Toast. Directions links open a maps app or Google Maps, and review and social links open those sites. Those are separate companies with their own privacy policies and their own tracking, and the moment you land there this page no longer applies to you. Your payment details are handled by Toast, not by us — what reaches the diner is the order.
If you call or write
We are a phone-and-counter business. If you call (607) 510-0088 or email waltondiner@gmail.com, then we have whatever you told us — your name, your number, your order — for as long as it takes to sort it out. That stays between you and us. It never touches the website.
What you can do about it
- Every browser will let you block or delete cookies. Nothing here breaks if you do.
- Google publishes an opt-out add-on that switches Analytics off in your browser, on every site, for good.
- Content blockers work fine here. With one running, Analytics, Cloudflare’s speed script and the map simply don’t load — the menu, the hours and every phone number still work.
- This site doesn’t currently read “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals. If you want your visit kept out of our visitor numbers, the opt-out add-on above is the way that actually works; for the speed report, use a content blocker.
Changes
If we ever add something that collects more than this — a booking form, say — this page changes at the same time. The date below is when it was last checked line by line against what the site actually loads and stores.
